In a move welcomed by the country’s car manufacturers, Lord Mandelson has extended the well-received car scrappage scheme and provided extra funding for 100,000 more vehicles. The proposal, started in May this year, gives new car buyers £2,000 off their purchase if they trade in their old vehicle.
The scheme was only meant to run until February – or until the budgetof £300m had been spent – but the popularity of the initiative has lead to it being extended. You can read more on the UK Government website here.
A bold move indeed, and one that seems to be working. How would this affect future classics? We recently reported on how this scheme could mean that future classics are traded in and scrapped.
